Bran­don Jen­nings may not have won Rookie of the Year, but he is keep­ing his eyes on a big­ger prize.

“To win a play­off series is real moti­va­tion, because they said we couldn’t do it as a team,” Jen­nings said.

“If we get the game Fri­day, I’m sure every­body out there will be ‘Fear­ing the Deer,’ as they say.”

He has ele­vated his play against the Hawks and is aver­ag­ing a team-leading 20.8 points in the first five games of the playoffs.

The Kings will intro­duce point guard Tyreke Evans as the NBA’s Rookie of the Year on Thursday.

Evans will receive the award in Sacra­mento, accord­ing to sources close to the situation.

He beat out Golden State’s Stephen Curry and Milwaukee’s Bran­don Jen­nings for the award.

Evans is the first King to win the award in the Sacra­mento era.

Bran­don Jen­nings of the Mil­wau­kee Bucks has been fined $7,500 for post­ing a mes­sage on his Twit­ter account in vio­la­tion of NBA rules.

On Sat­ur­day, Dec. 12, a mes­sage was posted on Jen­nings’ Twit­ter account imme­di­ately fol­low­ing the Bucks’ 108–101 vic­tory over the Port­land Trail Blaz­ers in Milwaukee.

Jen­nings “tweeted” the fol­low­ing mes­sage in the locker room imme­di­ately after the game: ‘Back to 500. Yess!!! “500″ means where doing good. Way to Play Hard Guys.’

Play­ers are not allowed to post on blogs, Twit­ter, etc. directly before, dur­ing or after a game.

Knicks pres­i­dent Don­nie Walsh met with his entire U.S.-based scout­ing depart­ment Wednes­day to dis­cuss the future and per­haps one glar­ing mis­take from the not-so-distant past.

“I’m pretty sure the name Bran­don Jen­nings will come up,” said one team official.

The deci­sion to pass on Jen­nings in June’s draft has back­fired for the Knicks, and Walsh has not been shy about assign­ing blame to mem­bers of his scout­ing depart­ment, many of whom are holdovers from the Isiah Thomas administration.

Jen­nings, for his part, dis­putes the foul call that sent Boykins to the free throw line with 1 sec­ond left for the win­ning shots in the Wash­ing­ton Wiz­ards’ 104–102 vic­tory over the Bucks.

“He pump-faked and I jumped, but I was jump­ing this way and he jumped toward me.”
