The Denver Nuggets had been trying to make a trade with the New Jersey Nets but needed another team to help out, so the Portland Trail Blazers answered the call.
The Bergen Record reports that after Carmelo Anthony was put on the trading block, the Blazers proposed a deal that would have sent Hornets star point guard Chris Paul moving to Oregon.
Other parts of the deal, according to the Record, would have had Devin Harris and Kris Humphries, along with a few Blazers going to New Orleans, Derrick Favors to the Nuggets, and Carmelo Anthony and Andre Miller to the Nets.
