The Mav­er­icks got the news that it is going to be a few weeks until Erick Dampier can think about return­ing from a fin­ger injury.

The neg­a­tive could turn into two pos­i­tives, because it means they should have a 100 per­cent Dampier in time for the play­offs, and it is a golden oppor­tu­nity for Bren­dan Hay­wood to show why the Mav­er­icks traded for him.

Dampier, wear­ing a large splint and soft cast, said he would see how things feel after the first week or so and go from there.
